Right behind Bower are senior Abby Hewitt, who didn't have as good a race at the WPIAL championships as she did in placing second to Bower at the Tri-State Track Coaches Association championships, and junior Mary Jo Jakubek, who was sixth at the WPIAL meet. Senior Nicole Egan and junior Genie Fratto have been solid all season and freshmen Annie Jakubek and Alex Brant have been, at times, outstanding.
Brant was 46th overall at the Tri-State Coaches meet, but her asthma bothered her at the WPIAL championships and she finished 115th.

Described by those who knew him as a warm and cheerful person with a gift for recognizing the aptitudes of those he recruited to help, Roberts also had a stubborn streak.
