ENVIRONMENT-CONSCIOUS people in Mid Devon can check the districts air quality on one of the best websites in the country, according to a new survey.
Mid Devon District Councils air quality data website, which gives near real-time emissions readings from various monitoring sites, has made it into the top 15 of a review of more than 450 sites providing such information.
Air Quality Bulletins annual review, seen as the definitive guide to data sites on the internet, praised Mid Devons for its quality and findability.
The website is managed by Gloucestershire air quality monitoring specialists Enviro Technology, which also supplies the state-of-the-art data collection equipment.
New features include up-todate air pollution levels from each of the three monitoring stations at a glance.
Visitors to the site can register their e-mail details so data can be forwarded to them directly, which could benefit those who might suffer from the effects of poor air quality, such as people with asthma.
Mid Devon has had an established programme of periodic and continuous air quality monitoring dating back to 1999.
It has continued to expand its network of monitoring stations and now has data collection equipment at Crediton, Cullompton and a newly commissioned station at Tiverton all maintained and serviced by Enviro Technology.
