YAKIMA -- The annual walk to find a cure for asthma is Saturday at 9 a.m. at Sarg Hubbard Park.
Asthma is becoming more common in the Yakima Valley, and it s more vital than ever to find a cure, said Tammy Lloyd, the family team chairwoman for the walk. Lloyd s son, Jay Daniel, has suffered from asthma since he was six months old.
The walk is expected to raise $60,000 for asthma research and education programs, according to Kristin Matthews of the American Lung Association of the Northwest. The funds will be used in the same way they have in the past, she said.

Dunkley's positive test was the second such case to have been caught by Jamaican authorities in the last four years. Sprinter Steve Mullings, who won the 200m at the 2004 Olympic Trials, was banned for two years after testing positive for testosterone.
Other Jamaicans to have tested positive for banned substances include sprinters Merlene Ottey (Nandrolone); Patrick Jarrett (Stanozolol), shot putter Dorian Scott (marijuana); and long/triple jumper Suzette Lee (Salbutamol, which is used for the treatment of asthma, chronic bronchitis and other breathing disorders). Jarrett was suspended for two years; Ottey escaped being banned as her 'B' sample returned negative, while Scott and Lee received public warnings.
