It's an annual gathering that Lysetta Hurge-Putnam would rather not have. The ninth annual domestic violence awareness month breakfast Oct. 17 at Hyannis Golf Course remembered 29 victims of domestic violence in Massachusetts.
The meeting is hosted by Independence House of Hyannis, a resource center for battered women, their children and sexual assault survivors.
'We will remember 29 friends, mothers, neighbors, brothers, sisters, lovers whose potential was truncated because of domestic violence,' said Hurge-Putnam, executive director of Independence House at the breakfast.
Those attending were urged to take action against domestic violence.
'It is critical that we find our own courage and that we continue to unveil the secrecy and stigma of domestic violence,' said Hurge-Putnam
